Forging a future.
Who are the NYMB
The New York Minor Board (NYMB), a voluntary organization was established in 1970 with the mission statement:
Through the spirit and tradition of Gaelic Games, the New York Minor Board (NYMB) is dedicated to fostering cultural connections, enhancing athletic skills, and building community.
We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where our young players can develop and shape the future of our cherished games in the Greater New York Area.
Â
Since our inception, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in participation, growing from a modest group of enthusiastic children to a robust membership of thousands. Our young members, aged between 5 to 20, now have the opportunity to compete not only in local leagues but also in American continental competitions and the annual Continental Youth Championships (CYC). The CYC is hosted in different cities including Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco, broadening the scope of competition across the nation.
Â
We also take pride in our cultural division, Scór na nÓg, which orchestrates artistic competitions on a club versus club basis, akin to the structure of our games. These events feature music, singing, dance, and both drama and comedic sketches performed on stage. This not only serves as a quality source of entertainment but also provides a wonderful platform for young individuals to express themselves and showcase their talents.
Â
We truly expect and anticipate that the proposed improvements to the Redmond Park  field outlined below and within this proposal shall mutually benefit all the residents of Yonkers as well as the NYMB, who will use these facilities to maintain and expand our sports and cultural programs. The redevelopment shall also allow the NYMB to expand its programs by encouraging and soliciting participation from children in the local  areas surrounding the complex and indeed all across the city. This is a fundamental part of the NYMB’s ethos.
Bridging Heritage and Community
The Redmond Park Project: Crafting the Future Home of Youth GAA in New York
Redmond Park Redevelopment Project
In the heart of Yonkers lies the budding vision of the New York Minor Board’s (NYMB) newest endeavor, an emblem of cultural preservation and community progress combined into one synergistic partnership. At the intersection of tradition and community development, the Redmond Park Project emerges as a beacon of unity and sportive excellence. Grounded in the rich heritage of Gaelic Games as they have blossomed in Ireland, the NYMB has actively facilitated the vibrant continuation of these sports within the diverse backdrop of New York. This significant undertaking not only represents an evolution for the NYMB but also heralds a new era where the youth of New York can immerse themselves in Gaelic Games, fostering not only physical well-being but also a deep connection with a rich cultural heritage. With a generous investment from the City of Yonkers, spearheading this grand
transformation with a current spend of 6 million into the enhancement of Redmond Park’s ground playing surface, a beacon of opportunity and growth is cemented on Cook Ave. This promising collaboration signifies a momentous step forward, laying the foundation for a nurturing home base where the NYMB can flourish and extend its roots deeper into the community. Through the nurturing grounds of Redmond Park, we envision a vibrant hub where generations can come together, united in their love for the Gaelic Games, nurturing camaraderie, resilience, and excellence. It is not just a commitment to the progression of sport but a homage to the deep-rooted Irish heritage that thrives and pulsates within the veins of the great city of Yonkers and the Tri-State Area.
